Befuddlement
Why is it that Brits direct both auto and foot traffic to the left side of the road, and yet when you’re standing on an escalator, they have the same rules as we do for standing on the right and passing on the left? Shouldn’t the slow lane rules be switched as well?

Maybe because a) most people are right handed, and b) people who need to hang on to the handrail are more likely to be stationary.
